"Just Say 'No' to Tooth-Fairies".... and other notes...

So, I've been off for the last day and a half, and I tried to make the most out of it.

Monday night, I took my 1st Sister-in-law to see the Hurricanes beat the Rangers, 3-0. Of course MC went, and since we were in Raleigh, we caught up with Chris as well. Dinner was at Conneley's (?)(Irish Pub) in Cary... I may have the name wrong, it might be O'Connels, or something similar... but it was an Irish Pub... Then we rolled over the stadium, and got in and seated about twenty minutes before the opening face-off. It was my first "full-pro" hockey game, and Steph's, too. She used to frequent the local AHL team games when she lived in Virginia (a farm team attached with the Chicago Blackhawks, The Norfolk Admirals closed down a couple of years ago... was my only hockey experience before the 'Canes-Rangers game).

We got home late on Monday night/Tuesday morning... going to bed close to 1am. MC and I slept until close to 10, when I got up to let the dogs out. After a bagel brunch, we returned home to wait, and rest, until our dental appintments at 2:30pm. If you've seen "Hellboy II", you'll get extra enjoyment out of this posts title - let's just say it puts a whole different twist of the image of a Tooth Fairy. We were actually getting some work done, not just a cleaning, and my jaw is still a bit sore from where they injected the pain-killers.

In other news, I have made significant headway in the "honeymoon" movie/slideshow thingumy. I have had the pictures loaded in (all 500+ wedding pictures, and 1100+ from the trip) to one long video show, and had finally managed to get enough weeded out (dropping out the fuzzy pictures, or multiple duplicates "someone blinked, let's take another one"), to drop the running time down to around 90 minutes. I have adjusted all of the visuals (the Ken Burns effects), and am down to the last port to add a soundtrack to.

And, since I have upgraded to iLife 09, I will be able to upload a lot of pictures to Facebook and Flickr once I get things sorted out (since I had to delete and rebuild my photo library, which took me a while to get resolved)... So, once I do that, there will be some new pictures rotating through the photo box on the left side of the page.

In terms of my other projects, with the attic floor done I've managed to get some work done in the garage. I've also gotten all of the (posted) readings for my "Teaching" class printed, and started reading them last night (I am hoping to be about three weeks ahead by the time break ends.... we shall see...)

Now I just need to spend some time cranking out some text for the "Research" projects, so I can save myself later in the semester.

Whew... back to the trenches...
