Transcription, and other projects...

In order for me to pump the cruise information (recap and opinions), I need to transcribe the 70 (yes... 7-0, 70) [9x6 journal] pages that I wrote while on the trip... I've finally had a chance and taken the time to make some serious progress - I've done about 18 pages so far. Transcription is loads of fun, which is making me question some of my ideas about writing longhand and transferring over... But I haven't really done enough writing projects to see how I'll work with the process, so I'm still likely tomix it up a bit...

Speaking of projects, I've made some decisions about the focal project(s) for the month... my top three to work between... The idea - work on (A)... and if I feel myself getting stuck, then I can switch gears to (B) or (C) - since all are different enough that I would have to think a little differently about each (different genre conceits and plot/story ideas).

I've been actively/seriously pondering how I want to rework the opening of Project A for the last couple of days, and I think I've got that part figured out... just need to start scribbling on the pad. However, some of the seeds of change were planted back in the fall, when I submitted the original draft portion to the workshop class I was taking. In thinking about it, while I really like the immidiacy of how I started the story, if I am thinking in terms of a book I can see how it's jumping in to fast, with no reason to care for the main character. It would work for a short story, but not for something that I am looking at as a novel idea (pun only slightly intended).

Time to ink the fountain pen back up and get started...
