The day...

Thankfully, as far as work is concerned, the day is mercifully almost over - it has been a busy day with one person out (constant streams of phone calls). So, from that vantage, the day is coming to that blessed end - five o'clock! The catch, and what is almost depressing is that is IS almost five, which means the day has flown by and the writing (on a computer) time is almost gone...

Yeah, yeah... I have a computer at home that is perfectly fine for writing, but I also have animals and other projects clambering for attention... so most of my writing (before I get home) will be of the "long-hand" variety, only to be typed in later...

I've found that my fingers can move almost (not nearly, but almost) as fast as I can think when I am on a roll... and my hands, when pushing a pen, move a bit slower than that... A writer's curse, I guess, that we sometimes think faster than words can be put down...

But it has been a day... I am thankful that the "work" hours are over, but sad that I have not been able to get much written here today...

I recently finished "The Body" (from Stephen King's Different Seasons, and premise for the movie Stand by Me) and have not started the next story yet, so I wil likely try to spend some time tonight (while Jenn is working with her horse) working on both story notes and some more exposition in the novel... I think one point that scared me about the novel writing is that during the outline that I drafted, I could easily see a fairly long work... with the primary story arc, I have potentially designed a 6-700 word monster (granted, before editing and refinement... but words can easily be ADDED as well as removed during editing, or just plain traded almost evenly)... I've now cleared about 8 pages (single spaced - and for continuity, I plan on only listing "single spaced" numbers, or will note if using another spacing for the count). I look forward to pushing myself towards the 75-100 page range as my first big target hurdle...

But for now, the day is slowly drifting into the night, and I must get ready to drift home...
